Learn More About Safe and Effective Dysport and Botox Treatment

Here at Kind Smiles Dental Health, Dr. Allison Konick and her incredible team want you to look and feel your very best, which is why we are proud to offer safe and effective cosmetic treatments such as Dysport or  Botox that can soften pesky frown lines. This injectable neuromodulator can become a part of your routine dental care.

Restore Your Beautiful Smile

As residents of one of America’s sunniest coastal states, we are spoiled with all the wonder and natural beauty Florida offers. However, the more time you spend outdoors, the more significant your responsibility toward safeguarding your skin. Unprotected exposure to the sun’s UV light can prematurely age your skin and increase the risk of developing deadly skin cancers.

Ultra-violet light can also produce unwanted structural changes in the skin that impact elasticity, plumpness, and overall youthful appearance over time.

How Dysport Works

Dysport is an injectable cosmetic product applied to specific areas of the face using ultra-thin needles. As a neuromodulator, it blocks nerve signals that generally instruct muscles to contract. Each time a muscle in your face contracts, it leaves a minor groove in the skin. When you have elastic and youthful skin, expression lines are dynamic and will only show when you squint, laugh, smile, frown, or otherwise show expression.

Because of the cumulative impact of muscle activity, along with other changes in your skin over time, these dynamic lines tend to become more fixed or “static” and start showing even when your face is relaxed.

Through our ongoing study of facial anatomy, we’ve gained an extensive understanding of how the different facial muscles work. This is why our skilled team knows how to inject the perfect amount of Dysport into the right areas to help you achieve a more natural look that complements your fantastic smile. You’ll never suffer from the “frozen face” issue many who receive similar cosmetic treatments complain about.

Dysport As a Treatment

Dysport is also a safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions. For example, patients with bruxism (or teeth grinding) may eventually develop “masseter hypertrophy.” When patients develop this condition, the jawline of their face can appear bulky due to the overworked muscles in that area, causing a square-shaped appearance. Neuromodulators such as Dysport can help relax the impacted muscles, slim down the jawline’s appearance, and restore a more balanced shape.

Teeth grinding or bruxism can also damage or fracture teeth, but Dr. Konick and her team can help prevent further damage by relaxing specific muscles and preventing further damage to restorations or natural teeth.

This product may also help alleviate temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) symptoms, which often cause jaw stiffness, radiating pain, migraines, and other unpleasant symptoms connected to muscle tension. Dysport can alleviate the tension in the muscles and surrounding areas.

Dysport treatments can last three to six months until you come in for your subsequent maintenance treatment.  The same is true of Botox, and we are now carrying both products in the office.
